Let’s Talk About Shopify!
Starting an online shop sounds exciting… until you actually sit down to build it.
For years, I’ve recommended WordPress and WooCommerce for creative business owners who want a website and a strong blog presence together. It’s still a wonderful option for businesses focused heavily on content, storytelling, SEO, or long-form blogging.
But lately, I’ve found myself building more Shopify stores for small business owners who simply want a simple, reliable online shop without all the extra moving parts. If your main goal is selling products online, Shopify can be an incredibly good fit.
Some of the pros for using Shopify
- Shopify can be easier to manage, and you don’t have as much to worry about in terms of updates, security, backups, or technical maintenance behind the scenes. It’s built specifically for selling.
- Everything is designed around e-commerce first, and products, inventory, checkout, shipping, and payments are already streamlined and integrated.
- Adding products, organizing collections, tracking inventory, and processing orders is simple for most people to manage confidently after a little guidance.
- Many makers and creatives simply want a store that works well and lets them focus on creating and selling.
And some of the cons of Shopify:
- Monthly costs of around $40/month are necessary for shopify, so you’ll need to add that to the budget
- Shopify is less flexible when it comes to deep customization. Themes are user-friendly, but certain layout or content changes can be harder without custom coding.
- If you want to blog or have more advanced features/design, you’ll have less freedom than a WordPress/Woocommerce combo.
“I Tried To Set Up A Shopify Site, But It Was Overwhelming!”
This is something I hear regularly. A client signs up for shopify and logs in to get their store set up. Suddenly there are themes to choose from, settings they don’t understand, pages to create, collections to organize, photos to resize, menus to build, shipping settings to figure out, and somehow it all starts feeling a lot less creative and a lot more stressful.
That’s where I come in! I offer Shopify design and setup for creative business owners who want a beautiful, functional online shop without having to spend weeks trying to learn all the tech behind the scenes. Together, we will create a store that feels like you.
I help with:
- choosing a Shopify theme that fits your style and products
- customizing the design so it feels cohesive and polished
- homepage layout and organization
- collections and navigation
- banners and graphics
- mobile-friendly design
- product setup guidance
- basic pages and shop structure
- all the little settings and details that tend to feel overwhelming
You don’t have to understand all the technical pieces before getting started. I guide you through the process step-by-step and help simplify the parts that feel confusing. My goal is to take that pressure off your shoulders so you can focus on creating, growing, and sharing what you love.
If you’ve been putting off your Shopify shop because the setup feels intimidating, or if you already have a store that just doesn’t feel finished or polished yet, I’d love to help! You bring the creativity, and I’ll help with the tech, design, and setup side.
