How Blogging Helps You Sell More!
You are a creative and you are trying to find your audience and sell more of your products – physical or digital. It will be no surprise that I’m going to recommend blogging to help you sell more! The great thing about blogging is it will you help sell more… without needing to be sale-sy!
You’re probably NOT a salesy person. If you are like me, you’d rather make and create than figure out how to market your creations. But if you are in business, you needs sales. And marketing has to happen. Otherwise, you’re just creating and the bank account will not be increasing!
What Should You Blog About as a Maker or Creative?
Here are just a few post ideas that help your audience connect with your work:
- Behind the scenes – Show your workspace, your tools, your process.
- Tutorials or how-tos – Teach them how to use your product or repurpose it in new ways.
- Stories of why you created something – What inspired a specific product?
These are not sales pitches, but they will lead to sales because they build trust.
Blogging = Marketing That Feels Like a Conversation
When done right, blogging doesn’t feel like selling. It feels like storytelling. It feels like sharing, and helping.
With each post, you’re building a connection. You’re showing potential customers:
- What inspires you to create
- How your product solves a real problem or adds beauty to their life
- Ways they can use or enjoy what you sell
- Who you are and why you do what you do
They’re not being “pitched.” They’re being invited in to your creative world.
Blogging gives your audience a chance to spend more time with you, get to know your voice and values, and fall in love with what you offer so they are even more ready to click “add to cart.”
Bonus: Blogging Works for SEO, Too
Want people to find you on Google or Pinterest? Blogging is one of the most powerful ways to do that, especially when your content is helpful and focused on what your ideal customer is already searching for.
You don’t need to be a full-blown SEO expert either. Writing about your process, your product uses, and answering questions can naturally include the kind of words people are typing into search engines.
More visibility. More connection. More sales!
