Why You Should Start That Blog
I have a “why you should start that blog” story for you!
Eighteen years ago, my friend Laura was looking for a way to work from home. She was a Christian homeschool mom with four kids, known for cooking from scratch, planning healthy meals, and opening her home with generous hospitality.
As we brainstormed business ideas, I told her what I still tell people today: You have so much knowledge, you have a lot to share, and your stories matter. And then I suggested she start a blog.
Her response?
“What’s a blog??”
I laughed, explained the concept as best I could, and gently added that she’d need to get an email address too. (Yes, we were starting from scratch—literally.)
To her credit, she dove right in. She got the email, trusted me that this “blog thing” could actually go somewhere, and over the next few weeks, we built HeavenlyHomemakers.com. Because we were four states apart at the time, I walked her through everything over the phone and via email: how to write and publish blog posts, troubleshoot tech problems, and even how to set up an online store so she could sell e-books and menu plans. (And because this was WAY back when WordPress was brand new, I even had to teach her how to code HTML to add blog links to her widgets! It’s SO much easier now – I promise.)
Fast forward to today, 18 years later, her blog is still going strong. It’s brought in consistent income for her family, but more than that—it’s helped thousands of women with recipes, homeschooling encouragement, faith, and everyday family life. She’s written hundreds of blog posts, created resources and e-books, and built something meaningful that has stood the test of time.
What about you?
Maybe you’ve had an idea tugging at your heart for a while now.
Maybe people keep telling you, “You should start a blog.”
Or maybe you’ve never considered blogging before and now you’re wondering if it’s too late…or too complicated.
Let me assure you: It’s not too late. And it’s not too complicated when you have help.
Whether you want to share recipes, teach a craft, reflect on your faith, encourage other women, or simply tell your story—there’s someone out there who needs to hear it.
Starting a blog isn’t just about writing posts. It’s about building a space that reflects your heart, your voice, and the experiences that have shaped you. It’s about connection, impact, and showing up authentically in a noisy world.
I helped Laura build her website & blog all those years ago, and now I help other women do the same, especially those who feel a little unsure of the tech side. (50+ year old gals – I’m looking at you!)
If you have the desire, I’ll help you with the rest.
Because your story matters.
